During 25-27 September, Mr. Aleksi Aleksishvili, chairman of PMCG, participated in the Sixth Global Meeting of the Emerging Markets Forum; this international event took place in Warrenton, Virginia. The meeting this year was structured around the following topics:• Reform of the International Monetary System: The Palais Royal Initiative• Review of the State of the Global Economy• Asia 2050—Long Term Economic and Social Prospects• Impact of Climate Change on Emerging Markets• The Role of Europe in the Global Economy• Creating World Class Education Institutions• Enhancing Latin America and Asia Economic Links• Mexico 2042—Long Term Economic and Social Prospect The Emerging Markets Forum (EMF) was created in 2005 to bring together high-level government and corporate leaders as well as top officials of international institutions for a dialogue on key economic, financial and social issues facing emerging markets, and to reach actionable conclusions on the key economic, financial and social issues facing emerging market countries. Mr. Aleksishvili also attended IMF/WB annual meeting on September 24-26, in Washington DC. The annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund each year bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness. During his trip to US, PMCG’s chairman also had meetings with the representatives of leading consulting companies in Washington and discussed future cooperation plans in the region.  
PMCG’s Consultants upgraded their qualification in food safety issues (HACCP)

PMCG’s consultants have successfully completed all three phases of the Advanced International Training Program in the Field of Quality Infrastructure for Food Safety arranged under the auspices and sponsorship of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. Two experts, Ekaterine Burkadze and Beka Biashvili attended the specialized trainings in Sweden and Macedonia to upgrade their qualification levels. The Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC) is a Swedish public authority; its main duty is to be the national accreditation body. SWEDAC is also a regulatory and surveillance authority. PMCG’s consultants upgraded their qualification in the following areas: New concepts and requirements covering food safety, International trade and Agricultural products; EU Food Safety Systems; HACCP training; Food Labeling; Accreditation, Methodology and Procedures. New Project at the Revenue Service of Georgia

  PMCG and IMG, under the USAID Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI) program, launched a project called Analysis of Jobs and Development of Job Descriptions for the Revenue Service of Georgia. The objective is to assist the newly formed HR department of the Revenue Service to incorporate international HR best practices by analyzing job tasks and defining job descriptions for all employee positions within the Revenue Service. In the process, PMCG and IMG will study operations, conduct a thorough analysis of tasks performed and KSAOs required to perform those tasks and eventually develop job descriptions and qualification requirements for a majority of key positions in the operational as well as support departments of the Revenue Service. The methodology used for project purposes shall be uniquely defined and adapted to the specific needs and circumstances of the Revenue Service. IMG is a local consulting company specializing in several areas of management, including HR management. PMCG’s expertise in public sector and IMG’s excellent HR management experience creates good synergy and basis for successful cooperation. PMCG is a partner of the USAID large-scale Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI) project which is being implemented by the team of international and local consulting companies led by Deloitte. PMCG Completed Implementation of Food Safety System -HACCP in Agara Sugar Company

PMCG, a leading management consulting company on the Georgian market, completed implementation of the Food Safety System – HACCP in “Agara Sugar Company”, Ltd, the only sugar processing enterprise in Georgia. PMCG’s certified auditor-consultants implemented the following procedures in “Agara Sugar Company”, Ltd:• Provided consultations on food safety systems (HACCP);• Conducted trainings for staff and prepared Food Safety Group;• Implemented Food Safety Systems. “Agara Sugar Company”, Ltd, was established in 2010, but the factory has been operating since 1932. There are more than 500 employees in the factory and the company is the only sugar processing enterprise in Georgia. Currently company is producing white sugar according to international standards as it has obtained ISO 9001:2000 - international quality management standard. PMCG Launched the Project on Taxation Methodology for Determining Market Prices

    PMCG, with the support of USAID Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI), has launched a project on determining market prices (so called “Arm’s Length” prices) for Georgian tax authorities based on OECD guidelines and best practices worldwide. The OECD promotes the arm’s length principle in tax treatment of non-arm’s length (related or associated) cross-border transactions. The philosophy of this assignment is: To establish an effective overall system for determining arm’s length prices or market prices (term used in Georgian tax code), which will benefit taxpayers as well as tax authorities; To create a clear and safe tax environment; To promote compliance and; To decrease fraud risks in Georgia. This assignment will be implemented through setting up effective “Arm’s Length” pricing rules and practices that will be reflected in the comprehensive Audit Procedures Manual. PMCG provides services and implements projects in Balkans

PMCG is subcontracted by Chemonics which is implementing the USAID Business Enabling Environment Program (BEEP) in Balkans. The purpose of this subcontract is to provide technical assistance divided into two phases: in Georgia - Doing Business Study Tour and Batumi Regional Workshop Support; and in Kosovo - Construction Law and Starting a Business Support. PMCG technical experts will provide advice and assistance to BEEP and Government of Kosovo staff with implementation of streamlined registration, development of draft laws and administrative instructions for implementation of new business registration procedures, and providing guidance and counsel based on experience in Georgia, a previous World Bank Doing Business top reformer. State Representative of Colorado, Ms. Su Ryden Visited PMCG

Ms. Su Ryden, State Representative of Colorado, visited PMCG and met the management of the company on 28th of July. Ms. Ryden emphasized the need for cooperation between Georgia and US based companies and institutions. She committed to assist PMCG in establishing relations with different US business entities and academic institutions for further and long term cooperation. The purpose of her visit to Georgia was to meet representatives of different departments of the Parliament of Georgia. Ms. Ryden met the Deputy Chairperson of Parliament and discussed potential future cooperation between Georgia and US based institutions. Ms. Ryden is serving her second term in the Colorado House of Representatives. She is also a business owner and an active community supporter. Ms. Ryden serves on two legislative committees: Agriculture, Livestock & Natural Resources and Judiciary. She has owned Ryden & Associates Integrated Marketing since 1975, providing communication solutions for clients in many fields including banking, real estate, affordable housing and hospitality. Since its establishment, PMCG has established strong relationships with their United States counterparts and has many business partners, such as Deloitte, Booz Allen Hamilton, MSI, Pragma, Chemonics, etc. and participates in various projects of US Government and business institutions.
PMCG participates in IAEA’s MESSAGE training program

PMCG has joined the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) project supporting the development of the energy planning study for Georgia. PMCG’s representative is participating in a one month training program in Model for Energy Supply System Alternatives and their General Environmental impacts (MASSAGE) which is held at the head office of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. MASSAGE model is designed to set up optimization models of energy supply systems to assess capacity expansion and energy production policies to formulate optimal energy supply strategy for particular countries. PMCG is participating in this program together with the National Statistics Office of Georgia and Ministry of Energy and Natural Recourses of Georgia. All these institutions, including PMCG, are members of the state Task Force at the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia which is working on the project Supporting the Development of a National Infrastructure for the potential application of nuclear energy in Georgia.  
PMCG Launched the EPI Pension Development Project

PMCG has launched a Pension Development project through the USAID supported Georgia Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI) project. EPI decided to present the Government of Georgia with SWOT Analyses of World Bank Pillar II (mandatory) and Pillar III (voluntary) pension models based on Georgian macro and socio-economic indicators and analytical projections. PMCG is part of the USAID large-scale Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI) project which is being implemented by the team of international and local consulting companies led by Deloitte. Chairman of PMCG will Make a Presentation at the EU Delegation Headquarters in Brussels

Aleksi Aleksishvili, Chairman of PMCG, was invited to present and speak at the workshop on “Tax Reforms and Development” in the EU Delegation headquarters, Brussels. The workshop was aimed at providing participants with a practical understanding of taxation, tax reforms and revenue transition currently implemented in a number of developing countries and was directed at the Delegations' staff working in developing countries and dealing with fiscal policies and public finance reforms. The approach chosen for the workshop looks at situations of major tax reforms that may pursue different objectives and considers implications and interactions for various dimensions (e.g. tax structure, taxpayers, administration, political resistances, and macroeconomic projections). Participants of the workshop are the staff members of EU DGs DEVCO, TEXUD, and TRADE.Mr. Aleksishvili delivered presentations on tax reforms and tax transition, characteristics of modern tax system, tax policy and tax basis, public resources, tax effort, tariffs and trade policy, tax administration and organizational system reform. The workshop will be held in the European Commission HQ under the Methodological Support and Training in Aid Delivery Methods (ADM) Program.
