Supporting the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development (MoESD) in Public Administration Reform in Georgia
On May 13-14, we conducted a presentation for the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia (MoESD), outlining the main findings, challenges, outcomes, and recommendations stemming from the project entitled “Training and Consultation Support (TCS) in Public Policy to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.” The project is being implemented under UNDP’s initiative “Supporting Public Administration Reform in Georgia – Phase 2” and is funded by the UK government.
During a two-day workshop for high-level management at the MoESD, the project team covered aspects such as public policy planning reform, development of working processes for document development workflow stages, gender mainstreaming in public policymaking, organizational learning system development, as well as the “Indicators Bank” for policy and project planning.
Levan Davitashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and the Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia attended the workshop.
“We are pleased that, with the support of UNDP, we are working with PMCG on a very important project in order to improve the policy planning, monitoring and evaluation process within the Ministry. During the two-day workshop, together with the leadership of the Ministry, we discussed and summarized project outcomes, recommendations, and key products created within the project that will ultimately benefit our policymaking process and result in further improvement of the Ministry’s performance,” Mariam Begoidze, Strategy Development Department.
The project aims to increase the capacity of the MoESD through a series of capacity-building measures on effective planning and implementation of evidence-based, participatory, and accountable public policy, as well as adapting and carrying out relevant training programs.
Through its initiative “Supporting Public Administration Reform in Georgia – Phase 2” (PAR 2), UNDP Georgia continues to support the AoG and individual ministries to enhance their capacities further and equip them with the necessary tools to develop evidence-based, participatory, and effective public policies.
