Project Description

Project Description:

PMCG, under a UK AID project, is collaborating with the State University of New York’s Center for International Development (SUNY/CID) to promote public finance reforms in Tajikistan by enhancing the capacity of local civil society organizations (CSOs) working on social and economic development.

PMCG is holding a series of meetings, comprising practical work and training, which aim to:

Build the capacity of CSOs in presenting actionable budget recommendations to policy makers
Discuss the ways of applying best practices of reforming PFM in Tajikistan

As a result of the collaboration, Tajik CSOs will obtain a deeper understanding of how to make government more accountable. Moreover, they will also gain the necessary tools to develop recommendations for central and local governments.

PMCG will also work with CSOs to set up an online platform to let these organizations rank recommendations that were drafted during the training according to their importance, as well as choose potential donors that might be interested in funding budget advocacy to persuade Tajikistan’s government to actually consider these recommendations.
